Editing a user

In the settings editor, open the action menu (3 dots) of the user to be edited and click on ‘Edit’, or click on the user and then on the ‘Edit’ button on the top right of the page.

Changing permissions

User

In the settings editor, user and user group permissions can be changed by adding or removing permissions. This can be done by navigating to the User Permissions section, and adding a new permission, or selecting and removing a granted permission.

User group

Users who are members of a group will inherit that same scope of permissions. Whether a permission has been granted directly to a user or through their membership to a group, can be identified thanks to the ‘Granted via’ parameter.

When more strict or expansive permissions have been provided at user level to a user who also had inherited permissions from their membership to a group, the more expansive will prevail.

Changing a user group membership

In the settings editor, either click on the actions menu of a user, and select ‘Add to groups', or navigate to the user profile’s group membership section, and click on ‘Add to groups’. A modal will open up where the different groups can be selected.

To remove a group membership, click on the actions menu of the selected group, and click on ‘Remove’.

Alternative, memberships can be managed directly from the user group. To access a user group, click on it in the user group list, or through the action menu click

Deactivating a user

In the settings editor, identify the user to be deactivated, and either click on ‘Deactivate’ in the action menu, or in the user details page.

Once the deactivation of a user has been approved, it will still be possible to reactivate this user, but it will require to be approved.

Enable / Disable a user authentication method

User’s authentication methods can be updated outside of the editor, and will follow different approval flows depending on the authentication method chosen.

User provisioning from external directories

Both users and groups can be synchronised from external directories using the SCIM protocol. Permissions can be assigned to these provisioned entities, at group and singular levels. Some settings will be restricted for these users due to their source.
